Employment Law – Counseling/Defense

Even careful and conscientious employers can face employee claims. From offices in Northern and Southern California, the attorneys at Quinn Covarrubias provide employment law advice to help employers avoid exposures, and represent employers facing litigation brought by public agencies, individual employees, and class action plaintiffs.

When possible, we work with employers to proactively design and implement employment policies that fit our client’s unique workplace requirements and minimize disputes that may later require litigation, and draft employee handbooks describing these policies. We also conduct workplace investigations when complaints are made.

When litigation cannot be avoided, we defend employment-related lawsuits of all types, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, breach of contract, invasion of privacy, and defamation claims. For railroads subject to the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA), we defend employee injury cases. Our lawyers have extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts, as well as in private arbitration and mediation proceedings.

Our attorneys can also represent employers in administrative proceedings before local boards and commissions, as well as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), Employment Development Department (EDD), Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
